Back in the college days, I remember a situation that brought forth such profound insight into how Christianity worked. I was upset about a relationship situation and crying my eyes out. So I called my friend Katie. She dropped everything to run to my side. I hadn't seen Katie, nor talked to her in a while. In fact, I'd sorta pushed away from my Christian compadres just a bit. Regardless, she was on her way over. While she was in route, her boyfriend/our college bible group leader, Scott, called me. He said these words, "Amy, notice who is running to you. It's not just a good-hearted friend. But rather it's the Body of Christ that runs to you in your time of need.
That statement has rung in my ears for years. And I've seen it to be true. Over and over and over and over and over (you get the picture) again. People steered by their faith and the love of the Father to show mercy, compassion, love, encouragement, and provision in others' time of need. (many times for myself)
This adoption situation is no different. This morning we have received so many words of encouragement, promises for prayers, and even a monetary donation. We have people telling me they are going to do their own fundraising and not tell me about the details, but just send me the profits to fund our adoption. I (someone who isn't really a cryer) cried like a baby this morning at the responses we were getting from friends and family. So much love being lavished on us by His vessels.
We are so grateful to you all....the Body that runs.
